Grabby Weasels

I forgot to post these lil guys!! My friend really likes weasels so I used it as an opportunity to practice 3d modeling. They are designed to peek over the edges of things. I definitely need to learn to dilute my acrylic paint next time but it was really fun and I’m proud of how they turned out!

I had also not printed very much on my resin printer at all before and was not very experienced at adding supports, nor did I have my temperature control dialed in very well. So, I decided to just print a bunch and hope for the best. Ended up with 2 tailless and 1 headless (!) weasels but luckily 2 survived the carnage.

Another part of resin printing is learning how to properly hollow out the insides of prints. You need to add drainage holes or the print can either fail entirely or trap uncured resin inside. Through serendipity, it turned out that the best solution was to give them little weasel booty holes, which I could have filled in but decided to leave as-is because I was pretty sure my friend would find them funny (she did). I also hid secondary drainage holes inside the ears!

Overall a really fun and educational little adventure. 3D printing is so much fun.
