Resin Journeys part X

It’s printing well so far… I’m SO EXCITED…!!!

Also very excited because I think I’ve solved the “resin can’t tolerate the cold, but will poison you if printed indoors” issue. Rather than shelve the unit for the next 5 months, I slapped together a box out of flame-retardant insulating foam and shoved the printer inside, along with a matchbox-sized 100w heater attached to a temperature controller & glued on top of a ceramic tile to minimize fire risk. I even splurged and got 2 acrylic sheets to make an air-gap-insulated window. It looks like something from an abandoned nuclear reactor but it’s working even better than expected so far… down to 40F outside and the enclosure is still sitting at a balmy 80 degrees and successfully printing THE COOLEST THING.

Learning resin printing has been a damn journey but it’s so satisfying to acquire these new skills and transform my crappy little shed from a black widow sanctuary into a useful and cool workspace.
