Pet goals

UC Faerie Draik - Any name
If we're going to aim high, why not aim the highest? I've had a Faerie Draik character in my head for a very long time, and I adore the whimsical beauty of the UC art. Even though it's a very difficult goal, I don't want to give up just because it's hard! In addition, I see too many irreplacable UCs rot on abandoned accounts or languish as trophy pets. I want to help cherish and care for a piece of Neopian history, so its beauty will never be forgotten or frozen.

Nekoeon

Kitty generally behaves like a small child on a sugar high, but at the same time, has a job as an assistant to a theoretical physicist--and knows her stuff, too. Her research could make her world-wide famous if only she could slow down and organize herself long enough to explain her thoughts and concepts to others. In her rare moments of clarity, she reveals a depth of intelligence that is awe-inspiring and a little bit frightening. She gets up to all manner of hijinks with her 'sister' Butasuke.

Species: Disco
Gender: Female
Personality: Hyper, rushed, positive, enigmatic

Trivia

» Her favorite food is Tchea Fruit.
» She grew up in the Lost Desert; she visits back every year.
» She loves to stargaze.
» She accidentally slammed her ear stalk in a door and broke it; she is now terrified of doors.

Documentation

Nekoeon was my very first Neopet. I named her after the Japanese word for 'cat' as well as the Pokemon suffix 'eon'. She started out life Yellow. I originally planned to paint her Pink, but after seeing how much cheaper it was to get a Disco Paint Brush, I conveniently rethought my plans.

She's had the most ambiguous character of all my pets. For the longest time, she was just 'generica hyper happy girl.' I dabbled with the idea of making her a plush collector, but abandoned that concept. I'm not sure what inspired her foray into theoretical physics, but it's stuck and I couldn't be happier with how she's developing.

I read her books whenever I get them; I might actively start hunting down books sometime, but for now it's just casual reading.

Alco

Alco is a writer, down to the very last vane on his feathers. He keeps the peace in the home between Nekoeon and Butasuke, and helps Nekoeon when she needs to slow down long enough to document her research.

Species: Blue Lenny
Gender: Male
Personality: Quiet, serene, logical, unhurried
Nicknames: Legs (Nekoeon)

Trivia

» He used to be a reporter, and got into a lot of trouble for his daring exposé journalism, especially during the war.
» His favorite genre is sci-fi, but he has a hidden soft spot for vampire romance novels.
» He types and write with his feet in a position that everyone says looks horribly awkward. (It's not so bad.)
» He's secretly jealous of Kitty's ability to be effortlessly outgoing.

Documentation

Alco was my second ever pet. I adopted him shortly after I created Nekoeon and went into a Lenny craze for years. I could never figure out what to paint him, so he's stayed blue all this time. His design has also been elusive to me. I made a design, dubbed it lame, spent months trying to think of a new one, then settled on something that looks almost exactly like the old design. Silly me.

When I was still dumb enough to log into Neopets on school computers, I had a scare after leaving my account logged in. Someone came on my account and, inexplicably, did nothing but pound Alco. I was terrified and heartbroken, but thankfully, the person who adopted him gave him back without fuss. He's a badly named basic Lenny but he's my baby and I couldn't bear to part with him.

Butasuke

The baby girl of the family. Butasuke is always happy and kind-hearted, and no amount of negativity can dampen her cheerful demeanor. She's got a prankster's spirit, and on occasion, her playfulness can sometimes go too far. She and Nekoeon form a kind of positive feedback loop of utter chaos. She loves the water and teaches swimming lessons, and was even blessed by a Water Faerie who gave her the 'fishy' look she has today.

Species: Camouflage Skeith
Gender: Female
Personality: Outgoing, inquisitive, social, joking
Nicknames: Boo (Nekoeon, close friends), Piggy (Joyccar)

Trivia

» Her name means "piggy" in Japanese.
» She used to live inside the family couch.
» She is an excellent swimmer and teaches lessons at Kiko lake.
» She and Joy share a very strange relationship; nobody's quite sure about those two.

Documentation

I created Boo as a Blue Skeith a few months after starting Neo. From the get-go, she was always Alco and Kitty's 'kid'. Her Shadow Paint Brush was the first big saving project I did on Neopets and I was incredibly proud when I finally took her to the Rainbow Pool. To this day, I'm still not sure exactly why I painted her Shadow, but she looked pretty cool with it.

I wanted to make her design look more 'fishy' for some time, and I always assumed I'd paint her Maraquan someday even though I really didn't like the way the color looked on Skeiths. But then, Camouflage Skeiths came out and I really liked the way the markings looked subtly fish-like. It was a strange feeling to repaint her with a color that was 1/10th the price of her old one, but I'm extremely happy with the way she looks now.

Joey

A very self-righteous and grandiose Poogle. He used to live with Alco, Nekoeon, and Butasuke, but after a traumatizing mishap involving Butasuke, death, and a paint brush, he decided to leave on personal business.

Gender: Male
Personality: Haughty

Documentation

My friend found Joey in the pound and gave him to me after I mentioned wanting a Poogle. He was my fourth pet and the one I've had the most trouble getting inspiration for over all my years on Neopets. It was hard to come up with a design or story for him--I painted him brown on some whim but never could remember what I was thinking of doing design-wise. In addition, his name has always been pretty awkward no matter how I tried to cut it. However, he's been with the family for a long time and is a symbol of my friend's thoughtfulness, and I don't believe in abandoning pets just because they're temporarily uninspiring. It took a long time, but I eventually came up with a cool story (inspired by my short-lived desire to paint him Ghost) and finally figured out that perhaps his name could be interpreted as an abbreviation!

Aokotori

Tori is rash, brash, in-your-face, and would rather eat her own tail feathers than admit a mistake. She's a professional racer in the Pteri Flying Championships and says she'd kill for the chance at a medal. The scary thing is, she's probably not exaggerating.

Species: Electric Pteri
Gender: Female
Personality: Aggressive, direct, mean-spirited
Nicknames: Tori (everyone), Blue (close friends), Bolt (racing name)
Lookup (Under construction)
Petpage - Tori's Training Tips

Trivia

» Her name means "little blue bird" in Japanese.
» She was born and raised in Faerieland, but moved to Tyrannia to be closer to the Championships.
» She wishes she was a boy, and will thrash anyone who uses feminine nicknames on her.
» She has very few true friends. Only the most resilient can tolerate her abrasive personality.

Documentation

Tori was the first pet I created after coming back from my long hiatus. I originally planned to never go back to my old account with Kitty, Alco, Boo, and Joy, so I poured all my inspiration into Tori instead. I love birds and the thought of a grizzled air racer was just too fun.

Adoptables

Dalfurr

You'll know Dalfurr is around by the huge piles of junk that quietly accumulate everywhere he goes. He's painfully shy, shut-in, obsessive about hoarding, and tends to drive people away with his awkward behavior. But he's a loving and sincere soul, if you can get him out from behind the mountains of useless items he protects himself with.

Gender: Male
Personality: Withdrawn, nervous, kind-hearted, sincere

Trivia

» His name means absolutely nothing.
» He has an amazing memory for where things are, and cleanliness bothers him.
» He grew up on Terror Mountain but moved to Altador later.

Documentation

Dolly was the first pet I created simply because of his species. I didn't have a character in mind at all, I just wanted to draw those big ears and oversized claws. I eventually thought up a character stereotype--compulsive hoarder--because I was dumping all my art and adoptables onto his page. He's grown quite a bit since then. He was created as a Green Bori and I painted him Speckled after a few months. I dislike his name now and wish I could change it, but I don't want to lose him as a pet.

History

Dalfurr was born an only child--extremely uncommon among Bori, who usually grow up with three to five littermates. The rest of his littermates--two boys and a girl--didn't survive their first night. His mother suffered from deep depression after the birth, and his father was a workoholic who became even more distant in response to his wife's condition. As a result, Dalfurr didn't get much in the way of social interaction as a child. He grew to become phobic of close contact or any topics more personal than everyday chitchat.

In school, he was lucky (or unlucky) enough to be taken under the wing of a pair of very outgoing Bori littermates named Jen and James. They stuck with him throughout the grade school years, despite his ever-more-creative excuses to avoid social events. However, the assumption that every child was expected to go through life with at least one sibling was such an ingrained part of Bori culture that it was impossible for him to 'fit in' completely. Eventually, Jen and James found their own callings and romantic interests, and the three of them became distant, although Jen still sends the occasional postcard to Dalfurr to this day.

It took a very long time for Dalfurr's mother to overcome the effects of her depression. She was largely uncaring of her surviving child's success in life and never pushed him to do better. The young Dalfurr internalized her behavior, blaming himself for her sadness and, unconsciously, for the death of his littermates. He finished school and spent his young adult life living secluded in his parent's attic. After his father passed away, he used his mediocre job at the post office to support him and his mother.

They probably would have stayed that way forever if it weren't for an unexpected responsibility that dropped into their laps. One spring, a young single mother in their town became lifethreateningly ill and had to be hospitalized, leaving her four young children without a caretaker. The townspeople searched for someone to care for the children and finally settled on Dalfurr and his mother, assuming that the widowed Bori and her quiet son would have plenty of time to keep track of the kids while their mother recovered.

Dalfurr and his mother laborously played parents for six months. There were a lot of fights, there was a lot of hardship. But the experience changed them. They opened up to each other about things that they had previously only skirted around, and in the process of working together with his mom and interacting with the small children, something fundamental changed in Dalfurr. He was able to overcome his years of self-blame and, for the first time, was able to allow himself to wish for a fuller life.

After the mother recovered and the children joyfully returned home, Dalfurr helped his mom arrange to live with her sister, and moved out of the town in a journey to find his own way. He eventually came to settle near Altador, working in bookkeeping. He is still painfully socially awkward, but seems to find a measure of satisfaction in his life.

Chaucca

Chau is an albino Chia who lives in the Haunted Woods and works in the haunted house exhibits to great effect. She possesses the uncanny ability to perceive ghosts as well as an incredible sarcastic streak that has landed her in trouble more than a few times.

Species: White Chia
Gender: Female
Personality: Aloof, sarcastic, cynical, contemplative

Trivia

» Her name means nothing either.
» She can see and converse with ghosts.
» She lives in the Haunted Woods and her very best friend is a Halloween Lupe named Nale.
» She has terrible eyesight and burns easily in the sun.

Documentation

While Chau is relatively new compared to my other pets, her character has been around for a long time. I originally thought of her way back when I adopted Alco--a snow-colored Chia who ran errands for the Snow Faerie and ended up befriending a Lupe on the mountain. Later on, I thought of the concept of a girl who could see ghosts. Then, by some stroke of inspiration, I combined the two concepts, and Chau was born.

She has the most developed backstory of all my pets, and she is also the most dramatic of all my pets. I think I was unconsciously snubbing my nose at all the tragic, dramatic Lupe and Draik stories out there when I thought her up; "Well, you have your super-seriousbzns stories... I'll do the same thing, but with a Chia! Ha!" In any case, she quickly became one of my most beloved pets.

History

Chaucca grew up in an extremely isolated village in South Terror mountain, on the slopes dividing Altador and the Haunted Woods. She had a strained relationship with her father and sister. Her father was the head village guard and her sister wanted nothing more than to follow in her dad's footsteps, fighting and defending the village, while Chau was relatively physically weak and preferred academic pursuits.

At age eight, Chaucca survived a near-death incident and gained the mysterious ability to see and converse with spirits. This strange ability earned her even more ostracization from her dad, but her sister tolerated her strange quirks and listened to her. She met many spirits on the slopes, and managed to calm the dead and save the living several times.

One day, Chau struck up an unlikely friendship with a Lupe youth named Nale, a member of one of the roaming Lupe packs that preyed on the people of her village. She taught him the wonders of vegetarianism, and he helped her and her family to stay safe from the hunts. However, their secret alliance was somehow revealed to the Lupe packs, and they were forced to flee the mountain to escape Nale's kind, who were furious that one of their own would abandon their pack heritage to eat plants with a lowly Chia.

They traveled all the way down to the Haunted Woods--a place the Lupe packs feared to enter--and took refuge in the town there. They had several wild adventures during their meant-to-be-short stay, including a clash with fellow ghost-attuned Hubrid Nox, a potions mishap with Edna, and a pair of full-time job offers at a local haunted house.

In the end, they wound up making the Haunted Woods their permanent home. Chaucca ventured back to Terror Mountain one last time to make amends with her sister and father, and Nale earned himself a Halloween Paint Brush and was able to find a new pack of friends who were more tolerant of his preference of friends. You can find them there to this day, a Chia and her best friend, having a merry time haunting every day of the year together.

Poreil

An avid fashion designer in the niche market of edible pet clothing, Poreil is incredibly serious about her work and has no qualms putting her own ego aside in order to bring a design to its full potential. She displays an innocent and friendly exterior to others, and comes off as very shallow. This is deliberate: even though she has a busy social life, there is a very firm line that none but her dearest friends are allowed to cross. Across that line is a lonely, self-berating, and introspective soul that not very many people know about.

Species: Chocolate Korbat
Gender: Female
Personality: Independent, focused, reserved

Poreil is constantly changing herself in the name of design. Her basic body shape stays the same, but her clothing, accessories, even skin color tend to vary wildly from one outfit to the next. If you want to draw her, be creative! She generally chooses tones in the brown to cream color range as her base color and she'll wear just about anything confection-based.

Documentation

I'd been enraptured with the concept of a Chocolate pet who wore edible outfits for quite some time, but had trouble picking an appropriate species. For the longest time, I thought a Xweetok would be just the perfect fit. After weeks of searching, I finally found one up for adoption... and then promptly realized I couldn't draw them worth a darn. Then, a few months later, I got into a bat-anthro craze, and realized a Korbat would be the perfect pet to realize my Chocolate dreams.

Poreil is the very first pet I created an application for. It was a simple little thing that was to-the-point and uncluttered, and I was so proud of it. Chocolate Korbats seem to be unpopular, since they aren't that impressive visually compared to other Chocolate pets, but luckily I only had to search for about a month before finding her. I was absolutely ecstatic when her owner told me to get my transfers ready, and I've loved her ever since.

She has quickly become my customization baby. I'm also taking her to the Faerieland Employment Agency to get her jobs. I feel like this represents her status as a commissioned designer quite well.

Pixie

A Zafara who used to belong to a friend. She runs an adoption agency and tends to be the wrong gender most of the time due to her constant interactions with the Lab Ray. She's extremely caring towards her charges, but can be overprotective, paranoid, and a bit prejudiced, and always has to have her way when it comes to caring for her foster children.

Species: Grey Zafara
Gender: Female at heart
Personality: Concerned, solemn, nervous
Nicknames: None

Trivia

» Her petpet masquerades as a scarf and will detatch itself to comfort sad pets.
» She has a deep-seated and irrational dislike of all Grarrls and Moehogs.
» She tends to chew her knuckles and fingers when nervous. She can easily make herself bleed if she's especially agitated.
» She and the Lab Ray Scientist are engaged in a longstanding fight over lab safety standards.

Documentation

Pixie was created by one of my real life friends when the Neopets craze first hit our school way back in 2003. My friend wasn't interested in Neopets for long, though, and ended up quitting and abandoning her pets after two days. I didn't think much of it back then. But six months later, I was looking into adoption agencies, and decided on a whim to see how her pets were doing. To my horror, my friend's Zafara was still in the pound after all that time. I decided to adopt her, and she's been a part of the family ever since. She's been zapped to the moon and back, trying out such colors such as Striped, Disco, and Christmas. I finally painted her Grey and now she's retired from the lab ray for good.

Other Pets

Trivia about the other pets on my accounts.

SV

Lookup | Petpage
SV is a cosplay pet based off the main character of my favorite webcomic, NofNA's Secretary, because I'm just that obsessed. His customization, petpage and lookup only really make sense if you've read the comic. (To those who have read it: don't you think the chocolate chips in the Biscuit Yurble's mane look a lot like malice corn? To those who haven't, I hope the phrase 'malice corn' is enough to make you interested.) I plan to use his petpage to house stories and random writing someday.

Cahadia

Cahadia is my newest permanent pet. I found Cahadia UFQA on the Pound chat and I'd been wanting a Robot pet as a companion for Kitty for some time, so I applied with a simple Neomail app and was chosen! I had never actually seen a Robot Scorchio before; they're amazing when uncased, even though the female Scorchio eyes are very weird looking. (I plan to change Cahadia's gender to male so they can have cool red eyes. They'll be referred to with gender-neutral pronouns either way, though.) They'll soon have their own page, lookup, and so forth, once I have the time to set it up.

Terminating

Terminating was gifted to me by a very kind user and is the only pet I've ever adopted for the purpose of trading. I'm training him into a BD pet and zapping him until he turns Robot. I feel the color would match his name very well! Once he's up to snuff, I hope to use him in order to help me trade up for my UC pet goal.

Pixie's Fosters

On most of my accounts, you'll probably see random pets not listed here. If you visit them and they have a lab-ray-themed lookup, that means they are fosters of my adoption agency! I try to keep one on each account so I can zap as many as possible. You can go to Pixie Pound Rescue to see a list of current fosters.
